retractable keychain, Vintage Ketcham McDougall Brooch Keychain

The body of this brooch which houses the 15-inch retractable chain is exactly the size of a US quarter. These brooches/keychains were manufactured in the 40's by Ketcham McDougall and their name appears on the back of the brooch as well as on the C-clasp itself. These brooches were often worn by ladies who needed to keep a special key, pen, or even tiny reading glasses close at hand. This piece belonged to my grandmother, but I don't think she ever used it as there is not a scratch on it., vintage keychain
